Settler’s History

Prior to the Settlers inaugural season in 2006 owner, Lou Mitchell, had an Idea to bring college baseball players from around the country to play in Licking County for the summer. The Settlers play In the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate league, a branch of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB). In 2008, the team made Don Edwards Park in Newark, Ohio their NEW home after playing the first two seasons in Granville, Ohio.

The Settlers is a charitable organization focused on providing a fun and safe atmosphere for the Licking County community. The Settlers makes a donation to the United Way of licking County at the end of
each season. In past seasons the Settlers have invited the YMCA day camp to a game for a day of fun for the campers.

In the last six seasons, the Settlers have appeared in three post-season tournaments. The 2010 Settlers finished in first place as regular-season champions with a 31-13 record.

Our Mission:

The mission of the Licking County Settlers is to provide a fun, safe, and family- oriented atmosphere in the Licking County community as well as providing an arena for athletes to showcase and improve upon their talents.

Licking County Settlers are back for their sixth season in 2012, and the organization is looking to continue its recent winning ways. Following their breakout 2010 season in which the Settlers took home their first Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League title, the team advanced to the postseason again in 2011. The support of the community has been instrumental in allowing us to provide this great family activity to Licking County.
